Tooth Extractions – Revere, MA
In-Office Tooth Extractions
GENERAL AND WISDOM TEETH EXTRACTIONS IMPROVE YOUR ORAL HEALTH
When a tooth is severely damaged and causing pain, or you have teeth that need to be removed before we can move forward with dental implants or orthodontics, you may need to undergo one or more tooth extractions. Extracting teeth is a fairly simple procedure and is performed in-office in just one visit. Dr. Femi Oguntolu will do everything he can to save a tooth before extraction but sometimes extracting the tooth is the only option for improving the health of the mouth.
WHEN DO YOU NEED A TOOTH EXTRACTION?
We may need to perform a tooth extraction for the following reasons:
- Unneeded Wisdom Teeth
- Fractured Tooth
- Severely Damaged Tooth
- Removing Teeth Before Dental Implants or Dentures
- Removing Extra Teeth Before Orthodontics
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH TOOTH EXTRACTIONS
Dr. Oguntolu takes extra steps to ensure your tooth extraction procedure is as painless as possible. He will numb the area to reduce any discomfort and then proceed to break apart the tooth being removed using special tools. Once the pieces are removed, he can remove the root entirely. You will be given post-procedure instructions to ensure the treated area remains free of bacteria and heals quickly. Some things you can do during the recovery phase to help with healing:
- Avoid rinsing vigorously with water or mouthwash
- Don’t drink through a straw for at least 24 hours
- Eat soft foods that are easy to chew and swallow
- Avoid smoking
- Avoid supplements that can slow down healing
